Housekeeping is a very physically demanding job that includes many tasks. Evaluating the housekeeping services, one finds that many of the tasks are repetitive in nature such as bed making, buffing, and vacuuming, emptying garbage, tidying, dusting and cleaning floors. Housekeeping room attendants are required to carry or move tons of trash and used linen every day and it is easy to see that many of the injury types are directly related to the tasks performed in housekeeping operations. Ergonomics is the practice of designing equipment and works tasks to suit to the capability of the worker. It would definitely reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders to the housekeeping staff. The primary goal of this research work was to study, the awareness about the Ergonomics in the current hotels and its direct relationship with the efficiency of the housekeeping staff. The study was carried out on the basis of evaluating the awareness, the application and the effects of Ergonomics in the housekeeping department. The overall conclusion of presented studies is that housekeeping job consists of tasks which may easily lead to muscular injuries which effect on the efficiency of the housekeeping staff. The hotels can make combine efforts to consider ergonomics principles in their work environment to suit the working conditions of the housekeeping staff.Keywords

Hotels everywhere are growing with the growth in the number of tourist. These hotels generate large amount of solid and hazardous waste. To manage this waste effectively at the hotel level has become a major challenge for the guest. It is due to various reasons like management attitude to awareness amongst guest, or employee behaviour. At the same time if managed effective by overcoming these challenges, it also benefits the hotel in terms of monetary benefits to recognition in the society and even awards and certification. By recycling these wastes, a hotel can reduce operating costs, and maintain sustainability. This study is based on the waste management practises followed by some of the five star properties in Pune. It also discusses about the challenges faced by these hotels in doing so. It focuses on some of the benefits to the hotel in managing the waste generated in hotel rooms. To conduct this research, primary data was collected by approaching the hotels through a structured questionnaire and obtaining their views on the benefits and challenges of managing hotel room waste. The result of the data analysis reveals that all the hotels consciously follow recycling practices. However the methods and the amount of recycling vary from hotel to hotel.Keywords

The rapid growth in the epidemic of obesity has been a major health concern worldwide. Obesity in adolescent is the repercussion of childhood obesity. It is considered as a serious, long-term (chronic) disease. There has been an intense rise in the health care costs as compared to the previous decades due to obesity amongst children&adolescents. Overweight and obesity refer to having too much body fat. The causes for rise in obesity could be various like high intake of calorie food, lack of physical activities, etc. The aim of this research was to find about the awareness of obesity among the adolescent group and causes contributing towards it. The research has further objective to find out the extent of awareness in adolescents, about the basic nutrients contributing to the balanced diet. The data was collected from the group of adolescents, where the percentage of overweight is rapidly increasing. Prevention may include primary anticipation of overweight or obesity, healthy diet and exercise.Keywords

The main objective of this study is to identify the factors which contribute to the preference opted by the interns amongst various options for an internship. The two major options available for the interns are Domestic internship and International internship. The study also aims at a comparison between the two choices of the internship. This study further explores the impact of internship on the personality development of the interns. This study also aims to identify the level of satisfaction of the students with their internship experience, the stakeholder that has the most influence over student’s overall satisfaction. A structured survey questionnaire was used to collect data from Hotel management students in different colleges of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Pune. The data was analyzed and presented with the help of pie charts and bar diagrams. The findings were based on Internship planning, the factors contributing towards the selection of preferences between Domestic and International Internship, and the impact of internship on interns. However, the respondents perceived internship program planning as the most important factor in their internship. This shows that institutes play an important role in the internship experience of the students. The findings also showed that majority of the respondents were highly satisfied with their internship experience as it contributed positively towards the development of their personality.Keywords
