Abstract
The present paper is an attempt to examine the success of the industrial licensing policy of the Government of India in preventing concentration of economic power in the country till the announcement of the new licensing policy in February, 1970. The materials on the actual working of the lincensing system have all been culled from the reports of the Monopolies Inquiry Commission (1965), Hazari Committee on Industrial Planning and Licensing Policy (1967), and the Industrial Licensing Policy Inquiry Committee, (1969).
