These two books cover two eastern states of India on which relatively not much work has been done. Therefore, they are pioneering and of interest for researchers and policy-makers. The first book is based on the author's PhD thesis. It has eight chapters. In the introduction he makes a statement of the problem and reviews the literature on the subject. He has made a study of four rural development blocks, viz., Lunglei, Lungsen, Hnahthial and Bunghmun, in Lunglei district of Mizoram.
