Abstract

Biodegradable polymers have been widely used in biomedical applications because of their known biocompatibility and biodegradability. Degradable polymeric biomaterials are preferred candidates for developing therapeutic devices such as temporary prostheses, three dimensional porous structures as scaffolds for tissue engineering and as controlled/sustained release drug delivery vehicles. Biodegradable materials are used in packaging, agriculture, medicine and other areas. In the biomedical area, polymers are generally used as implants and are expected to perform long term service. These improvements contribute to make medical treatment more efficient and to minimize side effects and other types of inconveniences for patients. The following review presents an overview of the different biodegradable polymers and their applications.

Abstract

Statins are the most commonly prescribed drugs worldwide, are cholesterol lowering agents used to manage and prevent cardiovascular and coronary heart diseases. Recently a multifaceted actions in different physiological and pathological conditions has been also proposed for statins such as antiiflammation, neuroprotection etc. Statins have been shown to act through cholesterol dependant & independent mechanisms which are able to affect several tissue functions and modulate specific signal transduction pathways. Here we review the pharmacology of statins, providing a comprehensive update of the current knowledge of their effects on tissues, biological processes & pathological conditions; but statins are now becoming recognized as powerful anti-inflammatory agents that exert beneficial effects beyond low density lipoprotein cholesterol reduction.

Abstract

Quality by design (QbD) is an essential part of the modern advance to pharmaceutical quality. QbD is best key to build a quality in all pharmaceutical products. Under this concepts of Be throughout design and growth of product, it is important to identify desire product performance report [Target product profile (TPP), Quality Target product profile (QTPP)] and identify critical quality attributes (CQA). To recognize the impact of raw material [critical material attributes (CAM)], critical process parameters (CPP) on the CQAs and identification and control sources of changeability. The plan of pharmaceutical development is to design a quality products and its manufacturing process always deliver the future performance of the product. The base of Quality by design is ICH Guidelines Q8 for Pharmaceutical for development, Q9 quality risk management, Q10 for pharmaceutical quality systems.

Abstract

Oral cavity cancer, or just oral cancer, is cancer that start in the mouth (also called the oral cavity). Oropharyngeal cancer starts in the oropharynx, which is the part of the throat just behind the mouth. The major causes of oral cancer include tobacco use, areca nut chewing and heavy alcohol drinking; avoiding these can prevent the disease. Preceded by precancerous lesions, early oral cancers present as small painless ulcers or growths that can be detected, by careful physical examination, and if effectively treated by the physician. Prevention, early detection and treatment are effective interventions to reduce the worldwide burden of oral cancer. Early detection of oral cancer needs more than just understanding of the signs and symptoms of disease. The process must be managed effectively and handled sensitively. Every member of the dental team has a part to play and protocols should be developed for effective delivery of Dental and healthcare professionals have a crucial role to play in raising awareness of the dangers to oral health associated with smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco. Early detection of oral cancer needs more than just understanding of the signs and symptoms of disease. In its early stages, oral cancer can be treated in up to 90% of cases.

Abstract

DNA vaccines uses foreign DNA to express an endcoded protein and stimulates the body's immune system. It represents a new approach to immunization which is potentially less expensive than the old vaccines. After inoculation into the host, DNA enters the cells, where the antigen is expressed , processed and subsequently recognized by immune system as in a natural infection. Certain methods like gene gun and elecroporation are used to deliver DNA vaccines.DNA vaccines undergo through clinical trials to find the way to treat autoimmune diseases, hepatitis, mycobacterial diseases, allergy and malaria. This review focuses on mechanism by which DNA vaccination induces immune response, delivering method and applications of DNA vaccinations.
