Abstract

The thrust for greater transparency towards stakeholders of the business has led to the emergence of the concept of Corporate governance, which was a response to corporate failures and widespread dissatisfaction with the way many corporate function, has become one of the wide and deep discussions across the business sectors as a global phenomenon. The founding principles of corporate governance lays emphasis primarily hinges on complete transparency, integrity and accountability of the management. There is also an increasingly greater demand on investor interests and public orientation. Corporate governance is apprehensive with the values, vision and visibility. It's all about the value orientation of the firm, ethical norms for its performance, the direction of development and social accomplishment of the organization and the visibility of its performance and practices. This paper focuses on corporate governance issues in Indian banking sector in specific as banking sector deserves special attention, the sector is mainly responsible for the allocation financial resources to all other sector of any economy. While recent high profile corporate governance failures in developed country have brought the subject to media attention. Through this research article we have discussed about the corporate governance issues in the view of Basel and Birla committee recommendation in the last we also have discussed about the need and prerequisites for corporate governance in Indian banking system.

Abstract

Mobile services in India have uplifted the standard of living of the people. It has touched the heart of millions of people. Today without mobile services customers felt they are helpless. After opening up of the economy in India, mobile services have grown exponentially. As a result it becomes imperative for the mobile services provider to understand the needs and preferences of customers to upgrade the services in the future. In present scenario, it is not only confined to the selling of products, advertisement and sales promotion but it includes consumer satisfaction as a whole. Mobile service providers are always concerned about the up gradation of the services for their consumers. As it is a service, which is intangible in nature, it is imperative for the service providers to know about the perception of the customers. This becomes a challenge for the service providers to convince the customer to avail the services. This paper tries to explore the perception of the customers towards the mobile service providers in Kolkata city.

Abstract

Through the years, Institutions and Trusts have received special privileges by the Indian Government in the form of deductions and exemptions. However with the advent of the Direct Tax Code, the Government seeks to decrease its leniency towards these Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs). The first proposal under the Direct tax Code has been examined and revised to accommodate some of the concerns arising under them. It is necessary to understand that NPO's play a significant role in the aiding the society. Therefore it creates an even higher burden on the Government to implement changes which would create incentives for NPO's. Pursuant to the above observations it is necessary to determine which provisions would benefit the NPO’s and to what extent they would provide a better structure over the existing Act. In this articles the authors has discussed various issues, challenges, suggestions and recommendations required for nonprofit organizations.

Abstract

India is known for its diversity in language, culture and tradition in the world. As the proverb goes “In India, the language changes in every twenty miles” represents how diverse we are, as far as the language is concerned. It is quite a difficult task in the part of an entrepreneur to start business in a place where the language is unknown/ unfamiliar to him/her. The simple and basic question of this study is: - “Is it necessary for an entrepreneur to learn the local language to improve his business performance?” In this context a study is carried out to know the problems faced by the entrepreneurs for starting and running a business when they don’t know the local language of that particular place where they setup their venture. The study is carried out in Vijayawada city. The samples (which consists only micro and small entrepreneurs) are only non Telugu and natives from states other than Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. A total of 200 small and medium entrepreneurs are interviewed through a close ended questionnaire. A total of 184 complete and valid responses were received for analysis. Logistic regression analysis is done to find out if the proficiency in Telugu language of the entrepreneurs’ has any impact on their business operation. The interpretation of the data revealed that there is a significant impact of entrepreneurs’ language proficiency on their business operation.
