Job Satisfaction of Women Police:A Study of Hisar Police Range

Since ancient time the position of women has been taken up very inferior to the male in our society. The women were assumed to fulfill the household duty only and to look after their children and the male hold the superior position in the family because the male were the only bread winner of the family. The females were only house arrested and this culture had been continued till long. The present scenario is changed in many ways and the female has taken up a new role. The women are entering in various occupations and one of the reasons behind that is the changing of the socio cultural conditions in the country. Legally they are equal to the male of the society but in practical aspect there are many loop holes which are still exist in the society. The work place differentiates between the role of men and women. The police culture is the best example where the women are not accepted. There was an assumption that women are not fitted for the Police job which demands masculine features in the candidates. Instead of many barriers from society as well as male counterpart the women are making their place in the Police. Job satisfaction is the essential part of any organization to run it in a well manner. The dissatisfaction of the employ leads to failure of the organization in many ways. The present paper attempted to examine the level of job satisfaction of women police in the Hisar police range of Haryana police towards the many aspects of the job related to recruitment, promotion, relationship with male counterpart and supervisors, redressal mechanism, salary, promotion, leaves and working conditions.
