Clothes in the present times are a medium of expressing oneself and to present a better and more confident appearance to the society. People from upper and middle class society are availing services of boutiques as per their requirements. The present study was conducted on 200 respondents running boutiques from houses and shops in four cities of Punjab (Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala). The respondents were selected purposively by using snowball sampling technique from selected cities. The relevant information regarding the demand pattern and product range of articles produced in boutiques run by women entrepreneurs was collected by an interview schedule. The information regarding the demand pattern and product range of articles produced in the boutiques was worked out. In boutiques operating from shops, demand of Salwar Kameez, Pyjami Kameez, Designer suits, Kurtis/tops and one piece dresses was at the highest level and at par, followed by Parallel suits, Harrem pants, Lehngas and Cholies, trousers and skirts the demand for which came out to be at the second level while Sarees and blouses, nighties/night suits was at the third position. In boutiques running from houses, the most demanded products came out to be Salwar -Kameez and Pyjami -Kameez, followed by Designer suits, Parallel suits, Harrem pants, Sarees and blouses, Kurtis/ tops and one piece dresses. The least demanded products came out to be Lehngas and Cholies, trousers, skirts and nighties/night suits. The demand of all types of article was collected by an interview schedule. The data were products, other than Salwar Kameez and Pyjami Kameez was significantly higher in shops than in houses.Keywords

The concept of designing household articles using synthetic leather waste is useful for designing different household articles, accessories and apparels. The present study was undertaken for design development of household articles using synthetic leather waste. The preferences of sixty women purposively selected from Ludhiana city were taken for development of household articles from synthetic leather waste. Television was an important source of information regarding new fashion trends in household articles. Intricacy of design was the most important feature considered by respondents while purchasing household articles. The largest percentages of respondents preferred velvet as a base material for cushion cover, blend of cotton and polyester for table mat, polyester as base material for curtain, khaddar casement for dining sheet, cotton fabric for lamp shade and corduroy as a base material for pocket hanger. Tassels were the most preferred embellishment for household articles by the majority of the respondents.Keywords

The present study was undertaken for design development of silk stoles using blue pottery motifs. The preferences for the selection of blue pottery motifs were taken from the panel of ten judges from Department of Apparel and Textile Science. Eighteen sheets of designs were prepared using blue pottery motifs in order of the preferences. Out of which the most preferred six designs of stoles were used to prepare the stoles. The preferences of sixty college going girls were taken from Department of Apparel and Textile Science, College of Home Science, PAU, Ludhiana. On the basis of preferences of respondents, six stoles were developed using blue pottery motifs with screen printing technique.Keywords

The present study was undertaken to study the preferences of consumer regarding purchase of western dresses. An interview schedule was framed for collecting the preference off respondents and sources of information, factors and various constructional features. The results of the collected data revealed that the most important source of gathering information in dresses was internet followed by television. Most of the respondents preferred to purchase dresses from boutiques and retail shops. The most important factor considered by respondents was price and comfort.Keywords
