Abstract

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) is a very common environmental pollution problem which occurs worldwide in mining region. AMD forms when sulphide minerals in rocks are exposed to oxidizing condition in coal and metal mining, highway construction and other large scale excavations. Water which drains naturally from coal and metal mine workings is often acidic with elevated heavy metal content, characterized with low pH and high alkalinity with elevated concentration of metals like Iron, Manganese and Aluminum. During mining, the exposed wall rocks come in contact with the oxygenated water, interaction between these causes generation of AMD. Bacterial activity also plays an important role in acid formation. Coal has a crucial role in meeting current needs and is a resource bridge to meet future goals through the enhancement of knowledge and technology. The challenge is to apply the right technology in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way. The biggest environmental challenge facing the coal industry is the issue of greenhouse gases and acid rain. Overall environmental management improvement has been taking place with the implementation of state of art environmental management schemes particularly under Environmental and Social Mitigation Project (ESMP) of CIL.

Abstract

One of the important aspects of network security is the security of data being communicated.  The secret data can be obtained by unwanted users for poisonous purpose therefore its essential to apply efficient encryption algorithm to increase data security like Multiphase Encryption algorithm using an efficient technique for managing keys being used for encryption and decryption.  This paper mainly focuses on implementation of the multiphase cryptosystem using AES, 3DES and management of keys using RSA algorithm.

Abstract

Herbal remedies are widely used for the treatment and prevention of various diseases and often contain highly active pharmacological compounds. These products have the potential of contamination with different microorganisms. This is due to raw materials contamination and unhygienic production conditions. In this study, microbiological qualities of some herbal formulations were examined. Ten herbal products as tablet, powder and capsule were procured from local market Ghaziabad, U.P., India. The products were evaluated for microbial contamination as per method given in Indian Pharmacopoeia (2010) microbial limit test for enumeration and identification. Total aerobic count showed that all products had more than 1.5×10³cfu/g and total fungal count 2 ×10² cfu/g. Isolation and identification of microbial contamination showed that some of the samples were contaminated with Salmonella sp. There was no evidence for contamination of the samples by Staphylococcus aurous, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. In conclusion, all the samples of herbal drugs evaluated did not generally meet the standards for microbial limits as specified in official monographs. Such products can adversely affect health status of consumers as well as the stability of the products.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (a) examine the relationships between positive approaches (positive outlook, optimism, health esteem & external health locus of control) and coping with the emotional and behavioural consequences of disease in cancer and AIDS patients, (b) to find out the best predictors among positive approaches that reduced the impact of emotional and behavioural consequences of associated with one's disease.(c) Moderating role of satisfaction in positive approaches (positive outlook, optimism, health esteem & external health locus of control) and coping with the emotional and behavioural consequences of disease. The sample consisted of 100 people suffering from terminal illness such as Cancer and AIDS. Both male and female from rural and urban settings were taken for this study within the age range of 20 to 80 years with mean score 35.73 years. The education level of the patients within the range of illiterate to post graduate. Two type of the scale were used in this study. First scale comprises of emotional focused coping and problem focused coping. Further, emotional focused coping scale was the combination of two sub scale i.e. positive outlook and health esteem. While, problem focused coping was the combination of two sub scale i.e. optimism and health locus of control. Second scale for assess the emotional (negative feelings) and behavioural (hopelessness) consequences associated with one's disease. All these scales were based on Likert 5-point rating scale and have a high reliability coefficient. The results of the study revealed that there is a negative correlation between emotional focused coping with emotional and behavioural consequences associated with terminal illness. There is no significant difference was found between problem focused coping with emotional consequences (negative feelings) but a significant negative relationships with behavioural consequences (hopelessness). Another important findings of this study is that emotional focused coping approach has been found the best predictor for minimizing the effect of negative feelings and a sense of hopelessness among patients. On the other hand, health esteem as a dimension of emotional focused coping and optimism as problem focused coping strategies were emerged as the best predictors of the negative feelings while, health esteem become the best predictor in case of minimizing the feelings of hopelessness in patients.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (a) to see the role of aspiration in relations to the employee's psychological well-being and quality of work-life, (b) to see the relationships between beliefs in just world with employee's psychological well-being and quality of work-life, (c) to see the inter-relationships between beliefs in just world, quality of work-life and psychological well-being according to the police personnel's level of aspiration, and (d) to find out the best predictor of the relationships between level of aspiration and beliefs in just world to quality of work-life and psychological well-being. The study was conducted on 276 (179 male & 97 female) police personnel working in U.P. Police Organization within the age range of 24 to 59 years with mean score 40.16 years and varies in designations from Constable to Dy SP Following scales were used in this study: Scale of Level of Aspiration: was a single item scale comprises of four ranks (1. Sub-Inspector, 2. Inspector 3. Dy. SP. 4. S.P). Believes in just world was measured by a scale consists of eight items, assessing the belief in just world for the domain of self Psychological well-being was a ten items scale used to assess employee's psychological well-being, which addresses depression, anxiety, and disturbance in social functioning and Quality of work-life scale was a single item scale assessing the overall evaluation of police personnel quality of their work life. All these scales were based on Likert 5-point rating scale. The results of the study revealed that: (a) Police personnel whose aspiration level is to become SP rank officers, have more believes in just world, better psychological well-being and quality of work life than police personnel whose aspirational level is lower, (b) Believes in just world is positively related with psychological well-being and quality of work life (c) One of the most important contribution of this study is that the study revealed a positive relationship between believes in just word and quality of work life that was missing in review of existing literatures on these two variables.

Abstract

This study intended to examine the role of social support groups in coping with chronic diseases such as cancer and AIDS. Mainly there are three objectives of this study, i.e., (A) Examine the role of social support groups and coping strategies in terms of positive outlook, optimism and health-esteem. (B) Examine the role of social support groups and coping with feelings associated with the diseases in terms of negative feelings and pessimism/hopelessness. (C) Examine the relationships between coping strategies in terms of positive outlook, optimism and health-esteem and feelings associated with the disease (negative feelings & pessimism/hopelessness), and (D) Find out the best predictor of coping strategies that determines maximum contribution in lowering the impact of negative feelings and a sense of pessimism/hopelessness associated with patients' disease among member and non-members of social support groups. The sample consists of 100 people suffering from chronic diseases. There were three kinds of people taken as a sample in this study. First, who were suffering from cancer (25), second, who were suffering from HFV+ZAIDS (25) and they were the people who had notjoined any support-group and they were only depends on their family and friends. While, third groups were people who were suffering from HIV+/AIDS (50) but they hadjoined the social-support groups for such people and not only depends on their family and friends. Both male and female from rural and urban settings were taken for this study within the age range of 20 to 80 years with mean score ol^35.73 years. Two type of the scale were used in this study. First scale of coping strategies which was the combination of three sub scales i.e. positive outlook, optimism and health esteem. Second scale for assess the feelings associated with disease was comprises of scale of negative feelings and pessimism/hopelessness. AH these scales were based on Likert 5-point rating scale. The following results were found: (a) optimism and health esteem as coping strategies is higher in patients who were the members of social support groups in comparison to patients who didn'tjoin such support groups, (b) negative feelings and pessimism/hopelessness were found significant difference in patients who are the member and non-member of such social support groups, (c) positive outlook, optimism, and health esteem is lowering the impact of negative feelings and pessimism/hopelessness, and (d) optimism as a coping strategy is found more reliable (best predictor) in case of patients who belongs to social support groups and health esteem is found more reliable in case of patients who doesn't belongs to such social support groups for reducing or coping with negative feelings and pessimism/hopelessness associated with their disease.

Abstract

Data security is one of the important aspects of network security so a encryption algorithm is needed to increase data security like DNA Cryptography. DNA cryptography is a fusion of biotech and Computer Science field. This paper mainly focuses on implementation of the DNA cryptosystem with the use of AES and keys management using RSA algorithm and also for verification of data at other side message digest SHA-256 has been used to achieve Authentication, integrity, confidentiality, Non-repudiation, Access control, availability & signature. The system has been implemented in java using NETBEANS IDE 8.2.
