Riboflavin binding protein (Rfbp) was isolated from domestic fowl (Gallus gallus) and peahen (Pavo cristatus) egg-white and egg-yolk. The protein was purified in two steps, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 ion exchange chromatography and eluted with phosphate buffer pH 7.3 containing 0.5 M sodium chloride. The final purification of protein was achieved on Sephadex G-100. The purity of the protein was judged on cylindrical and slab gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE technique. Sephadex G-100 fraction Rfbp moved as a single band both on the Slab and Cylindrical gels. Comparison of the mobility of Rfbp with that of the standard molecular weight marker proteins revealed with that the Rfbp had a molecular weight close to 29,000 kd. Interestingly, hen egg-white Rfbp and peahen egg- white, yolk Rfbp had the same molecular weight as revealed by the SDS-PAGE. This is a novel approach for the study of riboflavin binding protein purified from different avian eggs in two steps and studied electrophoretic characterization with standard molecular weight marker.Keywords

In fresh water teleost, Clarias batrachus four pairs of gills and four pairs of gill arches are present on either side of pharynx. The four gill arches on one side bearing the gills are enclosed in gill chamber, which is covered by operculum. The gill rackers and gill arches are the other important structures in gill. East Godavari district occupies a very important place in the fisheries map of Andhra Pradesh, which endowed with rich fishery resources of marine, inland and brackish water. The Ichthyofauna of East Godavari district was collected to record the biodiversity of fish fauna in the district. It is recorded that the fish fauna of this district comprises of 9 Orders, 59 Genera and 146 Species. The collection revealed that majority of the fish belong to order Cyprinoformes which predominates with 83 species followed by Siluriniformes with 30 species and Perciformes with 12 species. The Order Cypriniformes has most commercial importance fish such as Catla, Rohu, Mrigal and the Common Carp. The Order Channiformes represents all murrels Channa striatus, Channa marulius, Channa gachua and Channa punctatus which are of great commercial value. Hilsa hilsa belongs to the Order Cluperformes is also recorded here, which is an anadromous migratory fish visiting River Godavari during early monsoon months. There is an immediate need to take measures to conserve this fish.Keywords
