Demonetization created a havoc in the economy during the end of December 2016. Criticism all over fingered the decision as monumental mismanagement; not only by the common people, but also from few economists. Problems felt by the business persons were not unique. However, the majority of the opinion was hidden. People resorted to e-payment system, and many felt it a herculean task. Whether the demonetization is directional to cashless economy was the concern. The study based on 120 sample of traders in Mysore city under convenient sample method. The results show that the people felt the problems are temporary and the people would switch over to the ideal system soon provided the government assures safety and ease of doing business and e-transactions.
